engagement picture ideas

I first met Chad and Bridget when I flew out to Durango, Colorado to photograph their engagement portraits in a converted school bus they temporarily called home for a while. We spent the weekend getting to know each other, and putting the pieces of their story together to create this set of photos. I tried to notice everything I could about them; the details around their home, how they interacted with each other and their beloved dogs and cat, hearing about how they met and fell in love, and listening to the stories and adventures they’d been on in their lives before and after knowing each other.

There were more glances than words between them. More smiles than hugs. They didn’t need the whole world to know they were in love, kissing and touching for everyone to see. You could feel the admiration in their loving gazes at one another. Even more so when one was unaware they were being admired by the other.

My favorite moment from our time together was when Chad held Bridget tightly while they danced inside their school bus home. It took everything in me not to cry, it was that beautiful of a moment. And I’ll never forget how it felt to be a part of that.

I’m so grateful to Chad and Bridget for hosting me, and showing me around the beautiful town of Durango. I photographed their wedding in Rose City, Michigan a few months later and cannot wait to share the images from that incredible weekend. Lastly, I want to take a moment to honor Morton, their cat, who sadly passed away shortly after their wedding. He had the most loving parents in Chad and Bridget and I was lucky to get to know him during my time there. RIP, Morton.
