Last summer Alin and I and the kids went up the coast on a road trip from Phoenix to Seattle. We biked the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, camped in the Redwoods, picnicked on the beaches of Oregon, and explored the city of Seattle. You can read about our Highway 1 and Pacific Northwest adventures here. We spent 8 nights in Seattle, and none of that would have been possible for us had it not been for the kindness of my good friend Jeramie & his wife Bethany. They offered us a place to sleep in their home for all 8 nights, and their precious girl Evey selflessly shared her room with all four of my kids. I wanted to thank them in as many ways as I could. One thing I knew I could do was to photograph the three of them and capture who they are at this time in their lives. We wandered around the little town of Edmonds, which is one of Bethany’s favorite places. Jeramie is an insanely talented wedding photographer in Seattle, and like most photographers I know, we are terribly uncomfortable in front of the camera. I love a good challenge though, and took it on gladly. These three have a beautiful family dynamic, and I so enjoyed spending the time that we did with them. I am forever grateful for the hospitality and kindness they’ve shown us. One of my favorite portraits from our session, is the cheesy “band photo” and the (so bad, but so good) glamor shot they let me take of them (scroll down to see, LOL).
Without further ado meet the Shoda’s.
